chow chow

Maybe this isn't so odd. (China zoo under fire for disguising dog as lion)

If 'guardian lions' are chow chows... that accompanied Mongolian armies... ('Teddy bear'/Teddy Roosevelt bear was modelled on Queen Victoria's chow chow puppy). Chinese emperors in the Tang dynasty kept 50,000 chows for hunting.

In China, lions and dragons are mythological. Chows are likely a Tibetan mastiff/Samoyed cross.

星华章 xinhua what xinhua

That's OK. No biggie. This reporter (Mark Bourrie) says that China spies on Canadians: He was also asked to find out what the spiritual leader discussed in a private meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper. After watching past reports on Chinese dissident activities on Parliament Hill disappear into the ether after he filed them, Bourrie knew it was likely to happen again.

We don't mynde! Go ahead, send fake emails! 翻译此页 This is not the first time such emails have been sent. The first wave of fraudulent emails was sent in 2010 to Edmonton theatre managers in an apparent attempt to stop Shen Yun from performing in the city. In 2011, emails were sent to at least three Edmonton city councillors. Shar Chen, spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Edmonton, said she suspects at least 12 councillors as well as the mayor received similar emails.

It was nice that parliamentary secretary and MP Bob Dechert (C-Missisauga-Erindale) apologized for those amorous e-mails.

happy, very happy tibetans

Ad in Vancouver Sun, Mar 10 2012
Dalai Lama is coming to Ottawa at the end of April.

Ad is credited to a list of Chinese organizations in Canada under the banner of the Folk Cultures Research Society of CCSA, or Canadian Community Service Association.

Searches for details of many of the organizations turned up nothing, or confusion. PM is neither meeting nor snubbing.

spelunking of immolation: 2railroads & china

Canadians helped China with theirs (Qinghai–Xizang railway, Bombardier, China-Tibet) by providing special cars. Chinese-Tibetan folk singer Han Hong has a song called Tianlu, Road to Heaven; 天路, praising the railway.

Wiki:  From 1959 to 1964, Tibetan guerrillas were secretly trained at Camp Hale by the CIA. The Tibetan project was codenamed ST Circus, and it was similar to the CIA operation that trained dissident Cubans in what later became the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

At the time of the sexytime Bob Dechert emails with a Xinhua reporter, the federal government's primary announcement of the day, and anouncements they are, no questions please, was Aglukkaq's appeal for Somalia.
