Teddy Roosevelt bear was modelled on Queen Victoria's chow chow puppy). Chinese emperors in the Tang dynasty kept
50,000 chows for hunting.

In China, lions and dragons are mythological. Chows are likely a
Tibetan mastiff/Samoyed cross.
