So, Allan Dulles didn't like Árbenz Guzmán, the democratically-elected President of Guatemala. As CIA Director in the Eisenhower administration, Dulles oversaw Operation PBSUCCESS, a Liberation Army—in an Orwellian coup d'état vicious & self-serving banana-loving way—of 400 CIA-armed-and-trained persons with a special offshore radio station pretending to be "spontaneous" patriots. Guzmán won 65% of the vote in the 1950 election. His presidency had no ties to the Soviet Union.
